With a little over a month remaining until the September 30 submission deadline, we would like to thank everyone who has already entered this year’s IAFOR Documentary Film Award (IDFA2016).
The award was founded to seek out and reward the storytellers, documentarians and filmmakers who have demonstrated excellence in the craft of documentary filmmaking. We seek to acknowledge these artisans by presenting a showcase of their work and rewarding them with the equipment, tools and resources they will need to further continue working in the craft.
Tentacle Sync has signed on as our Prize Sponsor for this year’s documentary competition. They will be contributing two Tentacle Sync Standard Sets and cables to the Award’s prize pool.
The winners of the competition will be announced at the IAFOR Asian Conference on Film & Documentary (FilmAsia) and the Asian Conference on Media & Mass Communication (MediAsia) conferences, held in Kobe, Japan on October 28, 2016.
The Grand Prize Winner will receive the following as part of their prize:
- US $1000 cash award from IAFOR
- Tentacle Sync Standard Set and cables
- A mentorship and critique session with three-time Emmy-award winner, Professor Gary E. Swanson.
- Winners will receive an invitation to an upcoming IAFOR Film or Media Conference in Asia, Europe, or North America. The invitation includes a waiver of registration fees, a conference dinner, and a seat on the pre and post-conference tours. (Accommodation and airfare are not included.)
If you would like to enter your documentary, please visit the Submit page. All movies will be judged based on the 5 following criteria: Originality, Production Value, Cinematography, Sound Engineering, and Editing. While all these elements of a documentary are important, the judging panel is looking for excellence in any one or more categories. The IDFA2016 seeks to award the best in both professional and amateur movies.
